Oil On The Water

Another musical interlude and a chance for me to check out the integration of Soundcloud and WordPress:

The words (computer generated using the MARY Text-to-Speech System) which you can hopefully make out are as follows:

There’s oil on the water
Oil on the shore
Stealing life from the sea
Poisoning life on the land
Blown by the wind
And drawn by the tide
To where it was not meant to be

There’s oil on the water
Oil on the shore
Spreading like wildfire
Because we had to have more

There’s oil on the water
Oil on the shore
Shutting out the sunshine
That warms the ocean floor

Oil on the water
Oil on the shore
Nothing left for anyone

There’s wood on the river
Wood in the floor
Stealing life from the forest
Leaving nothing but sand
Blown by the wind
And drawn from the place
Where it is supposed to be

Oil on the water
Oil on the shore
Nothing left for anyone
Nobody get’s any more

Make of them what you will.

  1. thanks Alex, an interesting variety!

I’ve been thinking about putting sound files somewhere online, for family initially. Somewhere free and easy. Probably recorded from inbuilt laptop mic. Would you recommend Soundcloud as suitable for something like that? You used to use Myspace, I think, though I get the impression they’ve gone out of favour not least since their redesign. Any alternative suggestions?

    Best wishes as ever,
    Iain

  2. Thanks for commenting, Iain. If you want to share audio, I reckon SoundCloud is as good as anything else. You can store up to 2 hours of audio for free and it links will with the likes of WordPress, Facebook, etc. I certainly find it very easy to use.

    All the best,
    Alex
