Uh-oh! I suspect that Gretna’s number may be up. If they’re asking for a game to be postponed the news can’t be good – has their financial plight become so dire they can’t afford to travel to Fir Park? Or have more players refused to play? It just is not getting any better for them!
We may well be on the cusp of a massive upset for the SPL. If Gretna fold completely before the season ends and drop out of the league then all games already played against them become void. Points won against them will be deducted from the other teams’ tally and as a result the order of the SPL table will change. This will favour some but damage others though the most damage will be done to Scotland’s footballing reputation. In which case, everyone loses.
Like many others I’ll be watching to see which fixtures go ahead tomorrow.
