I’m currently reading The Reality Dysfunction by Peter F. Hamilton – a dose of sci-fi tinged with horror. It’s a rather weighty tome, tipping the scales in excess of 1200 pages but these are fairly flying by as it is an excellent read.
I encountered the word tokamak in this book and couldn’t remember if I’d met it before or not. Anyway, in the same way as General Melchett liked the word gobbledygook and wanted to use it more in conversation, I thought I might get some use out of the word tokamak.
No such luck as:
A tokamak is a machine producing a toroidal magnetic field for confining a plasma. It is one of several types of magnetic confinement devices and the most researched candidate for producing fusion energy.
Ah, well, back to the world of dreams.
