I see that a new web site, the Encyclopedia of Life, has been launched. There are right-ups of it on both the BBC and the NY Times. I had a quick look at the site and what’s there is pretty impressive though some of the pages were slow to load.
What is kind of amazing is that there are presently some 30,000 pages available on the site. With only 1.77 million to go until all 1.8 million known species are covered.
Of course, those figures seem less impressive when you note that some scientists predict that there may be as many as 10 times more still to be discovered!?!
