Needless to say, the link in the title above has little to do with this post… This link does.

Over the last few days I have been enjoying reliving my youth by trying out a ZX Spectrum emulator. Ah, those were the days. 15 colours, maddening blip-bleep-blip sounds, and loading of programs from a cassette – in anything from 10 minutes to three weeks depending on how many times the loader crashed. I hate to think how many hours I wasted when I could have been doing homework!!!

Of course, technology has changed since then. But has the application? Nope. Not one little bit. Despite massively increased processing power many PCs are nothing more than high-end games machines. Though admittedly modern gameplay, graphics and sound are perhaps a tad better than those of JetPac.
