I am unimpressed with the attitude of General Musharraf, the President of Pakistan. It is wrong of him to say that the West is not giving enough aid in the aftermath of the earthquake that hit that region. And it is even worse to suggest that this is because no Westerners were involved.
It may be true to say that Western governments could give more. But I am a Westerner and have already given to the charities providing earthquake aid. My family and I also give donations of money, clothes and other items to similar causes irrespective of where or to whom the support may be headed, irrespective of whether we can afford to donate, irrespective of race, irrespective of religion and irrespective of whether or not any fellow Westerners are involved.
Is it any wonder that there are so many problems involving different creeds, when so called world leaders make such foolish generalisations? If this is the sort of attitude being espoused by so called world leaders, then they can “shove it where the sun don’t shine” and go looking for aid elsewhere. Why should anyone give charitably if this is the thanks that we receive?
