New Weight For Crude Rhyme

Luther’s Loo

You may not know the rather crude rhyme often found on toilet walls that begins “Some come here to sit and think, some come here to ponder…”. However, the above article casts it in a new light and perhaps gives a hint to its origins.

It appears that German archaeologists have found a toilet whilst excavating Martin Luther’s garden. Whilst there is no doubt that Luther would have sat, thought and pondered, one suspects he did not do much of what the remainder of the rhyme refers to – the rhyme ends, “…I come here to s**t and stink, and fart away like thunder!” – as he spent much of his life battling with constipation!!!
